If you want you can book a 30 minute interview with me to get to know each other and plan a syllabus together.
How are my classes?
I studied psychology several years ago, I was particularly interested in pedagogy and the psychology of learning.
Later I took several courses in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. And, although they were very complete, I was not convinced by the traditional way of teaching grammar. Memorising lists of uses and grammatical rules and then correcting mistakes seems to me to be a very unnatural way of learning; native speakers don't do it that way. What do you think?
I'm currently studying cognitive grammar, It's so much easier to learn the structures if we understand their communicative intent and use them in real contexts. This fits much better with me and my teaching style.
I like being constantly learning. I am also investigating other approaches such as storytelling, comprehensible input, the task-based approach, the communicative method, gamification... From all of them I take elements to be able to personalise my classes as much as possible and to be able to offer the best learning plan. FOR YOU.
I love Spain and its customs. Almost every month I do a special on the culture and traditions of my country (Easter, Christmas, All Saints' Day...) But I also do them when there is some news that has a special cultural and historical context, and a lot of impact on society. Because I understand that non-native speakers miss those shades of meaning and sometimes don't understand why something can be so important or controversial.
Don't you sometimes read the news and understand the language but don't quite understand what you're being told? That's exactly why. You are missing the social, cultural and historical context.
I explain all this to you, so when you are enjoying a beer you can talk to the people in the bar about their concerns, so that you can integrate as one of them and you can express your opinions in the same context as they do, and so you stop being a tourist and become a neighbour.
To enable you to have quality conversations, in which you can talk about anything and the Spanish you practice isn't limited to asking for directions, ordering food in a restaurant and, one lucky day, talking about the weather?
How do I know which is the best offer for me, what is my level, is this method good for me?
Don't be left wondering. Contact me and ask me anything you want or, if you prefer, book an individual interview so that we can get to know each other and I can answer all your questions.
